Copyright and Licensing Policy
Auna Press respects intellectual property rights and is committed to protecting authors' rights while promoting the broad dissemination and reuse of scholarly knowledge. This policy establishes the principles governing copyright ownership, author rights, licensing, and the use of published works.
1. Copyright Ownership
Copyright of published articles remains with the author(s), unless otherwise stated in a specific publishing agreement.
By submitting a manuscript to an Auna Press journal, authors confirm that they have the necessary rights to submit and publish the work and that the manuscript does not infringe the copyright, intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of third parties.
2. Author Rights
Authors retain the right to:
- use their published work for teaching and educational purposes;
- share and disseminate their published work;
- include the work in a thesis or dissertation;
- use the work for academic presentations;
- deposit the work in institutional or subject repositories;
- distribute copies in accordance with the applicable license; and
- create adaptations or derivative works in accordance with the terms of the applicable license.
Authors should provide appropriate acknowledgment of the original publication whenever the work is reused or shared.
3. Creative Commons License
Unless otherwise specified by the relevant journal, articles published by Auna Press are licensed under the:
Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license.
Under the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, users are permitted to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially.
These permissions are subject to the following conditions:
- Attribution (BY): Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s) and source, a link to the license must be provided, and any changes made to the material must be indicated.
- ShareAlike (SA): If the material is remixed, transformed, or built upon, the resulting contribution must be distributed under the same license or a compatible license, in accordance with the terms of CC BY-SA 4.0.
4. Attribution Requirements
Any person or organization reusing material published by Auna Press must provide appropriate attribution.
Attribution should normally include:
- author name(s);
- article title;
- journal name;
- publication information;
- original source or publication location;
- a link to the original article where available; and
- a link to the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
If changes have been made to the original material, the user must clearly indicate that modifications were made.
5. ShareAlike Requirement
Material published under CC BY-SA 4.0 may be adapted, modified, translated, or incorporated into derivative works.
However, when an adaptation is distributed, the adapted material must be licensed under the same CC BY-SA 4.0 license or another license permitted by the applicable Creative Commons terms.
The ShareAlike requirement applies to adaptations of the licensed material and does not necessarily apply to separate or independent material that is merely included alongside it.
6. Third-Party Materials
Not all materials contained within an article are necessarily covered by the CC BY-SA 4.0 license.
Third-party materials, including photographs, figures, tables, illustrations, datasets, instruments, or substantial quotations, may be subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions.
Where third-party material is excluded from the article's Creative Commons license, the relevant copyright or licensing information should be clearly indicated in the published article.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use third-party copyrighted material when required.
7. Copyright Infringement
Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of others.
Auna Press may request evidence of permission for copyrighted material when necessary.
If copyright infringement is identified before or after publication, Auna Press may take appropriate action, including correction, removal of infringing material, publication of a notice, or retraction where warranted.
8. Self-Archiving and Sharing
Authors may share and deposit their published articles in institutional repositories, academic repositories, personal websites, or other appropriate platforms, provided that the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license are respected.
Authors and users are encouraged to provide the official citation and a link to the version of record published by Auna Press.
9. Commercial Use
CC BY-SA 4.0 permits commercial as well as non-commercial use of the licensed material.
Commercial users must comply with all requirements of the license, including proper attribution and the ShareAlike requirement for adaptations.
10. Publisher Rights
Auna Press retains the right to publish, distribute, preserve, index, archive, and make published articles available through its publishing platforms.
These rights do not transfer ownership of copyright from the authors unless otherwise established in a separate publishing agreement.
11. License Statement
The following statement may be displayed on articles published by Auna Press:
This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). You are free to share and adapt the material for any purpose, including commercially, provided that appropriate credit is given, a link to the license is provided, and any adaptations are distributed under the same license.
12. Copyright and Licensing Complaints
Copyright or licensing concerns should be reported to the relevant journal editorial office or Auna Press.
Auna Press will review reported concerns and take appropriate action based on the available evidence and applicable copyright and licensing principles.
13. Policy Review
This policy may be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect developments in copyright law, Creative Commons licensing, open-access publishing, and scholarly communication practices.
