Retraction and Correction Policy

Auna Press is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. When errors, inaccuracies, or ethical concerns are identified in a published article, Auna Press may issue a correction, expression of concern, or retraction, depending on the nature and severity of the issue.

1. Purpose

This policy establishes procedures for correcting or retracting published articles when necessary. The purpose is to ensure that the scholarly record remains accurate, transparent, and trustworthy.

2. Corrections

A correction may be issued when an error in a published article affects the accuracy or understanding of the work but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions.

Corrections may address, for example:

  • typographical or factual errors;
  • incorrect author information;
  • errors in tables, figures, or data presentation;
  • errors in references or citations;
  • incomplete or incorrect institutional information; or
  • other errors that can be corrected without invalidating the main findings.

A correction should clearly identify the error and provide the corrected information. The original article should remain part of the scholarly record, with an appropriate notice linking the correction to the article.

3. Retraction

Retraction may be considered when an article contains serious problems that substantially affect the reliability, integrity, or validity of the published work.

Reasons for retraction may include:

  • major errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions;
  • fabrication or falsification of data;
  • substantial plagiarism;
  • duplicate or redundant publication;
  • unethical research practices;
  • serious undisclosed conflicts of interest;
  • substantial manipulation of the publication or peer-review process;
  • unauthorized use of data or materials; or
  • other serious violations of research or publication ethics.

Retraction does not necessarily imply misconduct by the authors. An article may be retracted because of an honest error, research misconduct, or other circumstances that compromise the reliability of the published work.

4. Expression of Concern

When there is a substantial concern regarding the integrity or reliability of a published article but an investigation has not yet reached a definitive conclusion, Auna Press may publish an Expression of Concern.

The notice informs readers that the article is currently subject to investigation or review. Once the matter has been resolved, the Expression of Concern may be followed by a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action.

5. Retraction Procedure

When a potential reason for retraction is identified, Auna Press may undertake the following process:

  1. The concern is assessed by the editor and/or publisher.
  2. Relevant evidence and information are reviewed.
  3. The authors may be contacted and given an opportunity to respond.
  4. Additional information may be requested from relevant institutions or other parties when necessary.
  5. An editorial decision is made based on the available evidence.
  6. If retraction is warranted, a formal retraction notice is published.

The investigation should be conducted fairly, objectively, and confidentially as appropriate.

6. Retraction Notice

A retracted article should remain identifiable in the journal's publication record. A retraction notice should clearly state:

  • the title and bibliographic information of the article;
  • the reason for retraction;
  • the date of retraction; and
  • the relationship between the retraction notice and the original article.

The retraction should be clearly linked to the original article so that readers are aware of its status.

7. Corrections After Publication

Authors who discover a significant error in their published article should promptly contact the journal editor.

Editors may also initiate a correction when an error is identified by readers, reviewers, editors, authors, or other relevant parties.

Corrections should be made transparently without unnecessarily altering the historical publication record.

8. Author Responses and Appeals

Authors may provide relevant evidence or clarification regarding a proposed correction or retraction.

Where appropriate, authors may appeal an editorial decision by submitting a reasoned explanation and supporting evidence. Appeals will be reviewed according to the journal's editorial procedures.

9. Responsibility for the Scholarly Record

Auna Press recognizes its responsibility to maintain a reliable scholarly record. Editorial decisions concerning corrections and retractions will be based on the available evidence and the principles of academic integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability.

10. Policy Review

This policy may be periodically reviewed and updated to reflect developments in research integrity, publication ethics, and recognized standards of scholarly publishing.
